Skanska RM, Nicholas Hare Architects, Haverstock Associates, PHB Architects and Impact Art have been appointed as preferred bidder to Essex BSF. The Essex schools contract will involve financing, running a LEP (local education partnership) design, refurbishment and construction of the schools, as well as the maintenance of the schools for a total of 26 years beginning in 2011.
The first four schools are valued at £70m and work starts on site in summer 2010.
Impact and the design teams have worked with artists to embed the use of arts into the fabric of the buildings and landscape. The artists will now work more extensively with the students to finalise details.
